Miller Hall Renovation - 2008

The Mortensen family from Boise Idaho purchased the Albion Normal School Campus in 2007 from a city auction. Since then they have renovated Miller Hall, the 1901 men's dormitory into a beautiful and modern hotel, while keeping its historic charm. Many hours of labor have also gone into the surrounding grounds so guests can enjoy the many outside activities and expansive green lawns.

 

The remaining campus buildings have been cleaned of debris, animal dung and asbestos. Their windows and doors have been secured while roofs have been repaired. Several of these buildings are used for the annual Haunted Mansions of Albion event, while others wait patiently for the economy to recover, so they too can be as beautiful as Miller Hall.

 

General Scope of Miller Hall Project:

  • New 800 amp electrical service
  • 100% new wiring installed and passed to code
  • Installed fire sprinkler and security system
  • New insulation throughout
  • Complete restoration of original hardwood floors
  • 100% new PEX plumbing
  • ADA compliant ramp, doors, bathrooms and shower
  • Installed modern central heating and air conditioning
  • New composite roof
  • New high efficiency window installed interior and exterior
  • New concrete sidewalks, sprinkler system and landscaping
  • New lighting inside and outside
